HOW TO CALCULATE WEIGHT OF STEEL BARS??

Most Indian TMT bars usually have a standard length of 12m or 40ft.

The diameter is variable ranging from 6mm to 40mm depending upon the usage requirements i.e 6mm, 8mm ,10mm, 12mm ,16mm ,20mm ,25mm ,28mm, 30mm, 32mm , 36mm, & 40mm.



FORMULA TO CALCULATE WEIGHT OF STEEL BARS:

  • For kg/m : W = D²L/162
  • For kg/foot : W = D²L/533
       Where, D = Diameter of steel bar in mm
                    L = Length of steel bar in m
                   W = Weight of steel bar in kg
If we put 1m length for each diameter of steel bar in the formula then we will get the unit weight.
  • For kg/m : W = D²L/162
  • 6mm Φ bar = 6²*1/162 = 0.222kg/m
  • 8mm Φ bar = 8²*1/162 = 0.395kg/m
  • 10mm Φ bar = 10²*1/162 = 0.617kg/m
  • 12mm Φ bar = 12²*1/162 = 0.89kg/m
  • 16mm Φ bar = 16²*1/162 = 1.58kg/m
  • 20mm Φ bar = 20²*1/162 = 2.47kg/m
  • 25mm Φ bar = 25²*1/162 = 3.86kg/m
  • 32mm Φ bar = 25²*1/162 = 6.32kg/m
  • For kg/foot : W = D²L/533
  • 6mm Φ bar = 6²*1/533 = 0.067kg/ft
  • 8mm Φ bar = 8²*1/533 = 0.120kg/ft
  • 10mm Φ bar = 10²*1/533 = 0.188 kg/ft
  • 12mm Φ bar = 12²*1/533 = 0.270kg/ft
  • 16mm Φ bar = 16²*1/533 = 0.480kg/ft
  • 20mm Φ bar = 20²*1/533 = 0.751kg/ft
  • 25mm Φ bar = 25²*1/533 = 31.174kg/ft
  • 32mm Φ bar = 25²*1/533 = 1.925kg/ft
